We Heard But Did Not Listen
Dogs barked loud, long, Tuesday night;
but, like auto alarm blares,
street waited for silent air.
——————————
Early Wednesday morning bright
shimmering sun, shattered glass
shards of windows in the grass.
——————————–
Several missing GPS,
dogs, mute as laryngitis,
wore shades of looking righteous.
———————————-
Our vehicle sat unstressed,
entry unscarred unmarred,
husband didn’t lock the car.
————————————
Glove compartment contents strewn,
robber didn’t take our stuff,
guess it wasn’t worth enough.
————————————–
Wouldn’t want our paper maps
colored bright and crackly new,
yellow routes and water blue.
